Visiting Church in Shanxi

更新日期: 05/05/2014

In order to let students and teachers understand more about the school mission and the work of the Sister Annie Skau, the founder of our school, we organized a trip to Shaanxi from 18/4 to 23/4 and visited Danfeng Church where Sister Annie Skau(司務道教士) had served before she started her service in Hong Kong. The Principal, Vice-principals, 7 teachers and 34 students joined the trip hoping to visit the places where Sister Annie Skau had served in China and to understand more about the stories in the book “Trails of Glad Tidings in Shaanxi (陝西羚蹤)” .

When the Mission Covenant Church in Norway heard about the trip, two pastors and a co-worker responsible for church archive travelled to China from Norway and joined us in Danfeng on 19/4 evening in order to help us understand more about the history of Norway missionaries in China. They delivered a one-hour talk to us introducing the stories of different missionaries – how they were trained, how they travelled to China and how they lived in China. The stories were very touching. Many teachers and students were moved by these stories.

On 20/4 morning, we joined the church service in Danfeng Church and presented the hymn “Stream of Praises” in the Easter Sunday Service. After the service, we had sharing and greetings with Christians in Danfeng. They also introduced to us the house where Sister Annie lived in 1940s and the clinic where she used for taking care of patients. We experienced communion with Christians in Danfeng and we knew that our faith originated from the same root.

We hope that we can pass the same faith on and can continue to carry out the mission of Jesus Christ as demonstrated by Sister Annie.
